Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Copyright © by the AA Grapevine, Inc.; reprinted with permission.

A.A. Member Contributions Online

News

You can now contribute online to the U.S./Canada General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous →. This convenient option for Individual contributions (like the Birthday Plan described below) and Group contributions accepts credit cards and electronic transfers from bank accounts. Notify your home group’s treasurer of this alternate 7th Tradition contribution method. Be sure to read the information available from the “Guidelines and General Usability Tips For Members” link in the gold login box on the contribution page.

Question: I keep hearing about the Birthday Plan. What is it?
Answer: The 1955 General Service Conference approved the Birthday Plan, under which some members of the Fellowship send a dollar a year for each year of sobriety they have in A.A. Others use a figure of $3.65, a penny a day, for each year. Some give more, but the amount cannot exceed $3,000 for any year.
