Schedule Changes

The Daytime Group that normally meets at First Lutheran Church (3600 W. Friendly Ave.) will be meeting at Summit Fellowship Club → at their normal time (10AM) on Monday, 16 JAN 2012. (The church is closed in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.)

District Committee Meeting THURSDAY

Events

The next District Committee Meeting (GSR Meeting) is at St. Andrews Episcopal Church (2105 West Market Street →) THURSDAY at 06:30 PM. GSRs, please be sure to represent your group at this meeting. If your group doesn’t have a General Service Representative, please hold a group business meeting to elect one.

General service representative (G.S.R.):

Working via the district and area committees, the G.S.R. is the group’s link with the General Service Conference, through which U.S. and Canadian groups share their experience and voice A.A.’s collective conscience. Sometimes called “the guardians of the Traditions,” G.S.R.s become familiar with A.A.’s Third Legacy— our spiritual responsibility to give service freely. Usually elected to serve two-year terms, they:

• Represent the group at district meetings and area assemblies.
• Keep group members informed about general service activities in their local areas.
• Receive and share with their groups all mail from the General Service Office, including the newsletter Box 4-5-9, which is G.S.O.’s primary tool for communicating with the Fellowship.

G.S.R.s also may assist their groups in solving a variety of problems, especially those related to the Traditions. In serving their groups, they can draw on all the services offered by G.S.O. (see p. 30).

An alternate G.S.R. is elected at the same time in the event that the G.S.R. may be unable to attend all district and area meetings. Alternate G.S.R.s should be encouraged to share the responsibilities of the G.S.R. at the group, district and area levels. (See The A.A. District meetings are held only once per month and only last an hour. We need all groups to be represented at these meetings. All AA members are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings.

Radiance Group’s 10th Anniversary Potluck

Events

The Radiance Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will celebrate 10 years since its restart in 2002. There will be a potluck dinner at 6:00pm 6:30pm on Sunday Jan. 22 before the meeting. We are very grateful for all the support over the years and welcome everyone who wishes to attend.

The group will be providing the main entree. If you’re able, please bring a side or dessert. Otherwise, just come and enjoy the food and fellowship!

Courage To Change Group’s Traditions Workshop Series

Christmas Alcothons at SFC & Unity

Events

We’ve only gotten some basic information about the meetings being held at Summit Fellowship Club and Unity Club on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If you have more information, please inform us via Submit Content or by emailing webmaster@nc23.org.

SFC:
In addition to regular meetings, a meeting has been added at 3PM on Saturday 24 DEC. The club will remain open all day Christmas. Various SFC homegroups will sponsor meetings at the following times: 8AM, 9AM, 10AM, Noon, 2PM, 4PM, 6PM, 8PM, and 10PM.

Unity:
Starting with the 5:30PM Happy Hour meeting on Saturday 24 DEC, meetings will be held around the clock through Sunday 25 DEC.

Starmount Group’s Christmas Party/Dinner CANCELED

Events

The Starmount group’s Christmas party/dinner is on 17 DEC and is open to all AA members and their guests. The group is providing the meats. Please bring a side dish (preferable) or a dessert. Dinner starts at 6PM and the speaker meeting, with Mike B. sharing, starts at 8PM.

Starmount will have its regular meeting at 8PM.
